I had my hands full after working in the yard this weekend and dropped an unused yard waste bag by the door. By the time I went back to pick it up, Jane had claimed it for her own and decided it was the perfect place to perch while she watches the world on the other side of the sliding glass door.
Of course, as soon as she saw that I was taking her picture, she had to come over and check out the camera.
Which meant Eli had to wake up and see what was going on.
As usual, I didn't get as much accomplished over the 3-day weekend as I'd hoped, but to be honest, I didn't feel much like working.
I did get a lockset installed on the door from the garage to the backyard. Now that it's installed I can admit that there hasn't been a lock on that door for almost a year since I had to disassemble the old one just to get the door open. The replacement I planned to use didn't fit and it seemed like just too much to go about finding one that would. I screwed the door shut and just walked around or used the sliding glass door instead.
And I tackled some of this year's growth on the fence between my backyard and the neighbor's. I just learned that she and her husband split up over the winter (explaining the unmowed yard) and she was delighted when I asked if she had any objections to my working on the overgrowth. I salvaged some of the roses from the bush that tries to smack my in the face when I mow and filled a vase. Well, three vases.
That was too many, so I took one of them to another neighbor and left it on her back porch (with a note, of course, to avoid creeping her out).
I'll just pretend that that, along with mowing the lawn and grocery shopping, makes for a productive weekend.
