Mom caught on and shooed her away before Alani got any further, but that didn't stop her from trying.
I took about 90 pictures of this dog during my visit--she's so photogenic and has a world of expression on her face. She spent the first few days barking at me nearly every time I looked at her. It wasn't aggressive, but I couldn't figure out what her problem was with me. I finally got irritated and charged at her--she was delighted! Apparently she'd been trying to convince me to play with her. We raced around the back yard barking at one another for about a half hour and she never tired of the game.

When she's not snacking on boxes, of course.

I opened the windows this evening and Eli wasted no time in jumping up for a closer view. Jane was a little less confident and kept trying to share whatever window Eli had commandeered.
My new neighbor is attempting the first mowing of the year (and keeps getting bogged down in the tall grass), so there are plenty of sounds and smells for the cats to take in.
